PROMalicious

I’m starting to get really excited about PROMdemonium.

Ottawa’s version of Vancouver’s People’s Prom, PROMdemonium is the “the radical, community-oriented, gender-bending, bike-loving, enviro-humping, queer-positive, slow dancing, big dress wearing prom you never had in high school.”

I went last year and had an incredible time. This year promises to be even better as they have moved the dance into St. Brigid’s, a former catholic cathedral turned into a community centre.

I have yet to find a dress but I’m drawing on inspiration from this wicked party on Jessica Claire’s photography website.

This weekend’s plans include some serious thrift shop shopping.

Commissioned Work – The Dalai Lama

My neighbours moved out at the end of January and threw out a bunch of great stuff including my new stainless steel kitchen garbage can and a pile of very bad paintings. The canvasses were in great shape, so naturally I snatched them up.

Putting his holiness on vinyl didn’t make much sense to me, so I decided to transform a request for the Dalai Lama into my first piece on canvas.


I’m not sure if I really captured the joy I wanted in this one…

I couldn’t believe my luck when I found this Trudeau dartboard in Edmonton’s Junque Cellar. Unfortunately, poor PET was hidden away for the last few months as my roommate thought he was too scary to hang in the hall.


He now has a new place of honour, hanging in my bedroom and helping me keep track of all the earrings that were previously tangled up in a box.



Don’t mind the visible crack in the wall, it adds character…

More fun with cages
