I wrote a post about our hunt for a home for Offbeat Home & Life . After years of searching, it's so nice to finally have a place we love and can make our own. After years of house hunting, and many false starts and heartbreaks, we've finally bought a place of our own! We got our keys today and couldn't be more excited. Chris even filmed a cute little house tour. Chris has started a blog of his own to chronicle his adventures in the Yukon: www.whyoneeh.blogspot.ca "Why one, eh?" is a play on the start of Whitehorse postal codes. Clever, eh?

There's no Wedding Wednesday post this week because Chris and I are a little busy looking for a place to live in Whitehorse, Yukon. We'll be moving up north the week after our wedding and we're both very excited about the adventure ahead!

  taking down the tree last week Now that the craziness of Christmas is over, I've been thinking a lot about what the year ahead will be like. Around this time last year I was dreaming up a big adventure for Chris and I. It was something to look forward to while in the middle of an Ottawa winter; something to make me feel a little less like a grown-up. My resolutions for 2011 seem to be pointing me in the opposite direction but, strangely, I'm still looking forward to crossing them off my big to do list. 1. Get organized : this will likely be an ongoing struggle, but I want to start 2011 off right by turning our "den" into useful space and sorting out a solution for my dresser-breaking collection of clothes 2. Buy a house : while Chris and I have already been actively house hunting for over a year, I think we can finally "find the one," and hopefully the finances to buy it, in 2011 And since those two resolutions (especially #2) are very likely to...

Chris and I have very reluctantly decided not to make an offer on this rather incredible row house . I think our agent and our parents are now breathing a collective sigh of relief. The decades (especially the 60s and 70s) have not been kind to this pre-1900s place.

We signed the lease yesterday. I'm so excited! I can't wait until we get to move in October 1st.

Chris and I are apartment shopping. I still can’t believe that I’m leaving my beloved Hoos , but it’s a done deal. I sent in my two months notice on Wednesday so there’s no turning back now. When I agreed to move in with Chris I gave him a list of conditions. I would only move out of my fabulous apartment if the new place had cheaper rent space for a studio/sewing room at least one balcony (I can’t very well go from 3 balconies to zero) a big bathtub (I love my claw foot tub) room for the washer and dryer (I don’t do laundromats) hardwood floors and a location within walking distance of work So we’ve been searching Craigslist , Kijiji , Used Ottawa and all the rental company sites for the last few weeks. Which brings me to the lame pun in the title. Bing Maps is awesome. Don’t get me wrong, I love Google and everything they do, but until Street View comes to Ottawa, Bing ’s bird’s eye view is the next best thing.
