Victoria in November

Image
On Halloween night, when we were sure all the trick-or-treaters were done for the evening, we took down all our spooky decorations and finished packing our bags so we could head to BC first thing in the morning. Axel making the most of Victoria's Halloween selfie stations I was going to be working in Victoria for two weeks and, since the hotel room was already paid for, Axel and Chris decided to join me for a little escape from the Yukon winter. Vancouver Island was lovely compared to the cold and snow in Whitehorse, but Axel was not a fan of the rain.

What we've been up to

Things have been pretty quiet on this blog lately, but it's not because we haven't been busy. Chris and I recently got back from two weeks out east. We were in Halifax for a week for my work and then we threw on a week in Ottawa to visit friends and family, and to get some shopping done, before returning to the Yukon. It was really great to visit Nova Scotia since neither Chris nor I had ever been there before. Work kept me pretty busy, but we did get to enjoy a bit of the scenery and sea food. And we even squeezed in a quick visit with friends . It's a beautiful part of the country and I'd love to see more of the Maritimes in the future! Yukon in the Summer

Image
Camping in Dyea, Alaska, just 2 hours drive from Whitehorse It's been a busy summer so far! When we haven't been hosting house guests, I've been traveling across the Yukon for work. Between playing tourist and my job, I've had a chance to see so much of our new home territory. Chris and I are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place!

Chris with Signs

My parents came for a visit this week and we took a day trip to Skagway, Alaska. It's the perfect excuse for another edition of "Chris with Signs"! The smallest desert in the world! Welcome to Alaska!

North of 60

There's no Wedding Wednesday post this week because Chris and I are a little busy looking for a place to live in Whitehorse, Yukon. We'll be moving up north the week after our wedding and we're both very excited about the adventure ahead!

From the land of midnight sun

Image
There's no Wedding Wednesday post today because I'm in the Yukon. It's been almost twenty years since I was last in Whitehorse. I'm surprised at how much I remember from way back then! I thought I'd forgotten everything but a lot of the city is familiar.

Road Trip Slideshow Party with a Surprise

Image
Sally glamour shot It's become a bit of a tradition for Chris and I to host a slideshow party after we return from Burning Man ( you can read about the last one here ). In addition to showing off the pictures from our travels, we try to give our guests a taste of what it was like to be there. This year that meant PBR, pickletinis and Indian tacos. We used The Pioneer Woman's fry bread recipe and the results were pretty tasty, although nothing we could make at home could really compare to food served out of a sketchy roadside trailer. Midway through the shots of scenery and roadside attractions, we stopped the slideshow to show a little video of what it was like to be stuck at the side of the road waiting out a tornado warning... It was a fun way to surprise our friends with the news that Chris and I are getting married! Clearly I didn't know which hand the ring is supposed to go on
