While Chris and I obviously make most of our costumes, often it is considerably easier and surprisingly cheaper to buy some pieces premade. This year we’ve gone to so many different stores that I wanted to take notes, so I’ll remember where the best deals are for next year. While there are plenty of thrift stores that have better deals and politics than Value Village, VV always has the biggest selection of second hand stuff. Wedding Wednesday: Metal Flowers

Metal Flowers I've been saving up our aluminium cans to use them for a few different wedding projects. The first thing I'm using them for is pop can roses. The metal roses are made pretty much the same way as the giant paper flowers we made for Promdemonium last year. First I clean off the cans and remove some of the paint, then I trace and cut out the heart shaped petals before bending and attaching them to a wire stem. I get about 1 flower per can and while it does take some time, it's a good way to keep my fingers busy while we're enjoying netflix.

Halloween at our House

We had a lot of fun decorating our house for Halloween this year. Our enthusiasm apparently rubbed off on some of our neighbours and several other houses on our block joined in on the fun and handed out candy this year. We only had about a dozen kids come by, but that's up from the 3-5 we have gotten in years past. Axel had been asking to go trick-or-treating for weeks, so he was pretty excited when the big day finally arrived!
