Welcome to the future! Today's the day that Marty and Doc traveled to in Back to the Future 2. For Axel's birthday, a few weeks ago, we threw a party inspired by hover boards, flying cars and all things 2015 (you might remember the flying DeLorean invitations we made during the Instructables Makerspace Contest). The incredible cakes were made by Klondike Cakes . Unbelievably, they tasted as good as they looked! We were so busy trying to get work done on the kitchen, the decorations and party prep were very last minute, but we still had fun with it. Axel wasn't sure what he was supposed to do with the smash cake.

I started working on this steampunk flux capacitor months ago. Made mostly from dollar store items (and those awesome antique edges from etsy ), I thought it would be a pretty quick and easy project. I somehow forgot that what little I learned about electricity in high school is long forgotten. So Chris and I learned to solder and I discovered the importance of resistors after blowing through a bunch of LEDs. But try as we might, we just can't get it to flux.
