Promtastic Promdemonium!

Image
I think I'm still recovering from PROMdemonium . We had a ton of fun but it was also a lot of work! In addition to the giant paper roses , we built an arch out of pallet wood, used broken umbrellas and old bedsheets to make enormous glowing mushrooms, constructed an automatic photo booth, made marquee style letters and assembled upcycled LED corsages! I've posted an instructable about how we made pop bottle flower boutonnieres . More on the rest of the prom projects coming soon!

Crunch time

Only 17 days til Halloween! Despite pulling some 13 hour days at work this month, I've managed to make some progress on our costumes for this year. Chris' rocket pack is well on its way to being done. We just need to add a few final details and he'll be ready to fight nazis and sweep Betty Page off her feet. More photos and a full how-to soon.

Painted pop bottle flowers

The pop bottles I had been saving up to make something like this , this or even this , all got tossed in the recycling bin when we moved. I think I might need to start collecting them again so I can make some pretty vases like this one. Full instructions via re-nest

I’m dreaming of… Flowers from Pop Bottles

Michelle Brand makes incredibly beautiful curtains from a curiously common material: plastic pop bottles. I’m imagining this technique could be used to make a very pretty chandelier. Sounds like just the project for my new hotknife …
