We finally finished our baby announcement/thank you cards! Looks like this is what folks will be getting instead of Christmas cards this year. the rockets on the mobile kind of look like squid, but I'm ok with that The image of Axel on the front of the card is done up to look like a blue print and we tried to make the pop-up nursery on the inside similar to Axel's own robots and rocket ships themed room. The picture on the card was taken when Axel was only two weeks old. He's grown so much since then! He wore the same onesie for his weekly photo this weekend and the difference is incredible. He's doubled his weight since we brought him home from the hospital!

Chris and I are in full wedding planning mode. After he proposed , we got off to a bit of a slow start; we had so many ideas it was hard to narrow it all down to one cohesive plan. It's not often you get an excuse to plan such a big party so we both want it to be the best party we could possibly throw! But over the last few months, things have started to come together. We set a date, booked a venue, started our guestlist, interviewed photographers and commenced work on some of the decorations. Now that we've got the ball rolling, I thought it would be good to blog about our progress. Not only will it give me an opportunity to share our diy projects, but it will hopefully also help keep me on track. Our holiday cards are finally in the mail. Hopefully, what they lacked in punctuality, they made up for in sheer awesomeness. We were able to put my gift certificate for Ponoko to use, but we left it a little too long before making our order so our cut cardstock didn't arrive until just a few days before Christmas. it wasn't all robot labour Fear not, an instructable on making the mechanical iris card is in the works.

Our homemade pop-up Christmas card Happy holidays! Chris and I are enjoying a cozy Christmas together in Ottawa.  We had an early Christmas with my family in BC last weekend. Everyone was together for my brother's wedding and my mother brought a cute little tree for our guest ranch chalet. We made the garland and star from scrap paper The Christmas Challenge was a huge success. My family is so talented and thoughtful! this photo doesn't do justice to the etched wine glass my brother made for my mom Chris and I had the bride and groom to make presents for. Inspired by pillows I had seen on etsy and the work of Ottawa artist Karina Bergmans , I took two thrifted jackets and turned them into initial throw pillows. In keeping with the font theme, we also monogrammed two hand towels using vintage buttons. It was really easy to do but I think the finished product is pretty cute.

During our unpacking Chris and I have discovered some long forgotten treasures. When we came across a stack of old diskettes I was reminded of an instructable for record player greeting cards . A little fun with scissors and voila! super cute upcycled card. And who doesn't love a reference to Dead or Alive?
