Way back when, inspired by the awesomeness of this and this , I started cutting butterflies out of records. They looked awesome and I had plans to have them flying up the walls of the Hoos, but cutting them out with a hot knife was extremely tedious and with everything else going on, the project got dumped into a box at the back of a closet. After seeing these gorgeous photos , I might just have to dig them out again! via Design*Sponge & Style Me Pretty

Even easier wings

While I was happy with the fairy wings I whipped up late last Friday night , the straps didn’t really work with the vintage nightgown I wanted to wear this weekend. Enter an awesome Giant Tiger find: “Country Garden” butterfly and dragonfly for $1 each. All I had to do was pop off their heads and bodies. I attached the butterfly wings to a magnetic name tag I had kicking around from my days working part time in a shoe store. Now I can easily add the wings to any outfit without any straps!

More vinyl than I know what to do with!

Exciting news! I responded to a kijiji ad this weekend that was offering free records. When I didn’t hear back from them right away I assumed that someone else beat me to it, but then I came home to a message on my machine on Tuesday. It turns out the ad was posted by Legend Records . Not only did they still have boxes of unplayable records left for me to pick up, they were also interested in seeing my paintings and putting them up in their store ! Yesterday I got a ride out to their Wellington location and picked up as many free records as we could fit in the car. I also dropped off a couple painted records I threw together in a hurry Tuesday night, and a stack of business cards. We’ll see if anything comes of it. If nothing else, I now have enough vinyl to keep me busy for a long time. It looks like I’ll have to start branching out into other used-record crafts. Butterflies perhaps?
