People in my neighbourhood

Image
I love people watching. While I was doing the dishes today I saw a guy pushing a huge amp down the middle of the street with a guitar on his back. He stopped to take a break and some guys started chatting with him and they all had a smoke. I can't help but wonder what sort of gig he was going to, on foot, on a Saturday afternoon. These are the people in my neighbourhood . In other news, Chris and I have finally come up with a name for our apartment. From now on it will be known as the Turquoise Tile Atelier or the TTA for short.

Another Neil

My first Neil Young wasn't scruffy enough for some people's tastes.

Wintery fun

Image
Winterlude kicked off today with fireworks and the usual NCC pomp and ceremony. Chris and I went down to Confederation Park to check out the ice sculptures after work. Spins & Needles had a awesome tree cozy installation set up in the park.  I also loved the "urban art" sculptures made from trash.

Nevermind

Image
Nirvana's Nevermind cover baby I can't wait until we have the apartment all set up. Painting records with the furniture in flux has been a real challenge. That being said, I'm really happy with how this one turned out even if it took me much longer than I expected.

Grey skies and rainbows

We painted the living room this weekend. I was really worried when the colour was going up on the walls because it looked so dark, but it lightened up a lot as it dried and I'm very happy with it now. When putting my records back into our expedit, I decided to organize them by colour. Some people don't like the recent trend of bookshelves arranged by colour , but  I rather like the look of it. Since these are the records I paint on and not the ones I would like to listen to, I don't need to worry about finding a specific one. Besides, Tavi likes things sorted by colour and that 13 year old is way cooler than I'll ever be.

More pop bottle magic

Image
The pop bottles I had been saving up to make something like this , this or even this , all got tossed in the recycling bin when we moved. I think I might need to start collecting them again so I can make some pretty vases like this one. Full instructions via re-nest
